Backtracking....

My husband has just offered to collect the boys from school as he has had a work from home day today. It's been nice to have him about; sort of! Whereas I'd just grab a sarnie for lunch on the hoof as it were I've had to organise a proper sit down meal. I've also been running backwards and forwards with tea and coffee, sorted out his computer, answered the telephone for him, kept the fire going, checked over his drafts and gone for a walk round the garden with him because he wanted the company.
I've also been trying to do my own work, take the boys to school, sort out the puppies, feed the chickens, clean and clear up, cook and everything else a wife gets up to during the few spare hours she has between kissing the breadwinner on the cheek as he strolls off to work and  before his return at the end of his busy day...(please let this NOT be a glimpse of things to come when he retires).
So he says, clearly seeing me rushed off my feet: "Why don't I collect the boys for you today?" So magnaminous of him.
"Great!" says I, "but please don't forget you'll need to talk to Mrs B about The Boy's epilepsy, collect all the sports gear and check that The Boy has put it ALL in his bag Don't forget that Bog Boy needs his Angel costume  taken in and please make sure he wears his wellies home from school I don't want him ruining his shoes."
I have never seen someone back track faster! Suddenly it was: "Oh heck I've forgettoen to ring so and so it is vitally important! Work you know..."
Yeh I KNOW!

That sounds familiar . Husband has now retired ..... he needs more attention than three children did ! Though I must say , it's his attempts to help that actually make the most work !

The happy farmer is about all the time, and is very good at helping out with collecting kids from school etc...it took a lot of getting used to being from the city where everyone leaves the house early and doesn't come home till late...

It's no nice that he wanted to help, but I think you scared the gesture right out of him for sure!

In fairness I think that list would have scared most men!

Pants with names - scary how men are so much the same!
SmitoniusAndSonata - Spoke to Mum about it she says to get them a busy doing something and give them regular exercise to get them out from under your feet. I did ask if she was talking about the dog...!!
Posie - you are So right. If you do it all the time it's easy but otherwise just too scary!
Mother Hen - I think I did!
Spencer - It was rather a long list. I'm not sure though if it wasn't me letting him know that I am a busy person not someone who sits about filing my nails!
Mollygolver - thanks for the warning I better get him in training now!

Go on you know you want to...
