My kids love noisy music - the White Stripes and the Beastie Boys and I predict a riot by the Kaiser Chiefs. My eldest plays the trumpet (also very noisy) and getting him to practise is a nightmare too. To be honest I'm unwilling to force the issue. I try to encourage him but I don't want to push it to the extent that playing his instrument ceases to be enjoyable.Gappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15086671907412626209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7706340262644788705.post-45172315861696137712010-05-25T09:25:22.837+01:002010-05-25T09:25:22.837+01:00Oh yes, naughty Mr Blunt...wasn't expecting th...Oh yes, naughty Mr Blunt...wasn't expecting that!

My boy (the 5yo) goes into melt-down too, quite regularly. Bribery sometimes works; only got him off the Shetland, last night, with the offer of an ice lolly ........

Not sure if I'm looking forward to 1st sports day or not yet!Lou Archerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06349559305444036113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7706340262644788705.post-29500500306692377982010-05-25T00:09:07.111+01:002010-05-25T00:09:07.111+01:00I haven't a clue how to motivate your boy but ...I haven't a clue how to motivate your boy but the suggestion from expat mum sounds good. Love your choice of music in the car, that would do it for me. There's something truly great about listening and driving to music, it must be the enclosed space that makes it so great and shortens the journey. Good luck inspiring him to practice - tell him he'll get on the X factor if he keeps it up!menopausaloldbag (MOB)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04320287770097378027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7706340262644788705.post-10779410244157260992010-05-24T22:37:10.497+01:002010-05-24T22:37:10.497+01:00Your car journeys sound fun . Abba with "bottom" lyrics would make the miles whizz by most satisfactorily.SmitoniusAndSonatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11210817141287881808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7706340262644788705.post-67967226998948209002010-05-24T22:11:15.794+01:002010-05-24T22:11:15.794+01:00Expat Mum - I don't think we can ever get it r...Expat Mum - I don't think we can ever get it right!Tattieweaslehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10723634612274763884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7706340262644788705.post-62456189631594619642010-05-24T20:16:57.976+01:002010-05-24T20:16:57.976+01:00My almost 7 year old has no problem practising but...My almost 7 year old has no problem practising but it has to be when he wants to (although he practices every day). Perhaps you can let him pick his time (before the evening meal or after etc.?)

Our problem is that when I tell him he played the wrong note or used the wrong finger, he just looks at me and says "No I didn't." Grrr. That's when our arguments start.Expat mumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17798190669591053390noreply@blogger.com
